Where to Eat Near Kalahari Resort Round Rock: A Local's Guide

So you're heading to Kalahari Round Rock. Nice. Waterpark, waterslides, the works.. you've got that part handled. But at some point, someone in your crew is going to be absolutely starving, and "should we just eat at the resort?" is going to come up.

Here's the answer: sometimes yes, sometimes no. And we're going to walk you through exactly which is which, meal by meal, so you eat well the whole trip without blowing your vacation budget.

Let's get into it.

🍳 Breakfast: Eggman (You Have to. Seriously.)

📍 300 Harrell Pkwy, Round Rock, TX 78665 🕗 Wed–Sun, 7:00 AM – 1:30 PM 📞 (737) 308-1473 | eggmanatx.com

Okay, we're biased. We'll say that upfront. But also .. we're right.

Eggman is a NYC-inspired breakfast sandwich joint that started in Austin and landed right here in Round Rock, just a few minutes from Kalahari. The whole deal is built around one thing: the breakfast sandwich and hospitality. But not a sad fast food one. We're talking made-to-order, stacked on a custom-baked kaiser roll called the Eggman Roll that we have baked exclusively for us. Nobody else has it. You can't get it anywhere else.

The vibe? Corner bodega in Queens .. but in Texas, with house-made sauces and actual effort going into every single sandwich. One reviewer put it like this: they "thought it was impossible to get a NYC-style BEC roll outside of NYC but this place nailed it, perhaps even improved on it." High praise. We'll take it.

What to get: The Bodega Classic or The Big Mess are the go-to's. Want some heat? The medium sauce brings "decent spice and good flavor" (per Yelp, not us). Cold brew is on the menu too .. fair warning, it comes sweet but you can customize the coffee how you like it.

The play: Come in the morning, grab your sandwiches and coffee, and you'll be at the waterpark gates while everyone else is still debating the resort buffet. You'll be full, you'll have spent less, and you'll have gotten the best breakfast in the area. It's just science. :)

🍕 Lunch or Dinner: Tony C's Pizza & Beer Garden

📍 3800 E Palm Valley Blvd, Ste 140, Round Rock, TX 78665 🕗 Mon–Thu 11 AM–9 PM | Fri–Sat 11 AM–10 PM | Sun 11 AM–9 PM 📞 (512) 595-7050 | tonycsbeergarden.com

Same NYC energy as Eggman, different format entirely. Tony C's is the coal-fired pizza and beer garden situation right on Palm Valley Boulevard in front of Dell Diamond .. and it delivers.

Tony Ciola is a third-generation restaurateur who started with a family Italian concept in Lakeway before founding this place. The Round Rock setup is a legit beer garden: long communal tables, big open patio, pizza ovens going all day, pitchers flowing. You sit down, you order a pizza for the table, someone gets a pitcher, watch a game, have some laughs, and two hours disappear. That's the experience.

The pizza earns its hype. Google gives it a 4.5, and reviews are consistent across the board. One person said the pizza of the month .. mozzarella basil .. was "probably the best pizza I have ever had in Texas." That's a strong statement in Texas. The coal-fired crust is the thing that makes it: thin, slightly charred, has structure. It does not go limp. We respect that.

What to get: Go specialty, not build-your-own. The Prosciutto & Arugula (roasted garlic, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese) and the Four Cheese Truffle (gorgonzola, fontina, parmesan, mushrooms, truffle oil) are the ones people rave about.

Hot tip: If there's a Round Rock Express game at Dell Diamond that night, go to Tony C's first. The beer garden goes electric when the whole corridor is buzzing. It's a vibe.

🥩 Special Occasion: Double Cut Steakhouse (Worth It, With a Caveat)

📍 3001 Kalahari Blvd, inside Kalahari 🕗 Daily 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Reservations strongly recommended or bar seating

Anniversary? Birthday? Just need one adult dinner without a chicken tender in sight? Double Cut is your spot inside the resort.

It's a proper upscale steakhouse .. dark wood, low lighting, live piano bar, Wagyu NY Strip, Tomahawk, Colorado Lamb Rack. One reviewer who eats at steakhouses literally around the world called it "the best restaurant at Kalahari" and raved about the food, service, and wine list. The cherry-smoked old fashioned and the hanging bacon appetizer come up in basically every positive review, which is a sign you should order them.

The honest caveat: it's a resort steakhouse, so consistency varies. Weekend nights when the place is packed? Hit or miss. But go on a Tuesday or Wednesday, make a reservation, tell them it's a special occasion .. you're probably going to have a great time.

What to get: Filet or Wagyu NY Strip, lobster mac and cheese, hanging bacon to start. Hit the piano bar for a drink first. The whole sequence is pretty great.

🍝 Family Dinner On-Resort: Sortino's Italian Kitchen (Don't Move the Car, Just Eat Here)

📍 3001 Kalahari Blvd, inside Kalahari 🕗 Thurs - Wed 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Some nights, you've been in the water for six hours, the kids are barely upright, and nobody has the bandwidth to get in the car. For those nights: Sortino's.

This is a 60-year family-recipe Italian concept .. brick oven pizza, red sauce, fresh pasta, the real stuff. Rated 4.4 on Restaurant Guru across 3,000+ reviews and 4.6 on Google, which is legitimately impressive for a restaurant inside a resort. The carbonara and lasagna with vodka sauce are the fan favorites. One reviewer said it best: "Simple food, not trying to overdo it, tasted like home cooking. Real shrimp, not frozen." Expectations properly set.

What to get: Carbonara, lasagna with vodka sauce, Chicken Bambino. And the cannoli cart at the end .. don't skip it, it's worth it.

🍩 Desserts & Sweets: The Sweet Stuff Guide

Round Rock is, weirdly, a destination for dessert too. Like, people drive here specifically for donuts. Here's the full rundown so you don't miss anything.

Round Rock Donuts (This is Why the City Has a Reputation)

📍 106 W Liberty Ave, Round Rock, TX 78664 🕗 Daily 4:30 AM – 6:30 PM | roundrockdonuts.com ~10 minutes from Kalahari

Look .. if you're in Round Rock and you don't go to Round Rock Donuts, did you even go to Round Rock?

This place has been frying donuts since 1926. In 2022, Yelp ranked it the Number 1 doughnut shop in the entire United States. In 2025, TasteAtlas put it in the top 21 most legendary dessert destinations on earth. They're celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2026. The donuts are yeast-based (not baking powder), hand-rolled, hand-cut, hand-iced, can't be machine-made, and on busy days they're cranking out 200 dozen of the originals. The iconic golden color? That's from the egg-enriched dough. Nearly 13,000 Google reviews, rated 4.8. People make pilgrimages to this place.

What to get: The classic glazed. That's it, that's the order. Obviously also consider the Texas-sized donut (14 inches, 2 pounds, looks like a steering wheel) for the photo op. Apple fritters and kolaches if you're staying a while.

The move: Go early in your trip so you know what you're working with. There also tend to be long lines here so earlier the better. Morning donuts near a waterpark? That's a good morning.

Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice (Post-Waterpark, Non-Negotiable)

📍 4500 E Palm Valley Blvd, Ste 116, Round Rock, TX 78665 🕗 Mon–Fri 2 PM – 8 PM | Sat–Sun 12 PM – 8 PM ~2 minutes from Kalahari

This one is practically in the Kalahari parking lot's backyard. It's also incredible.

Ululani's started in Maui and expanded to Texas .. and people from Hawaii say it holds up.

The ice is ribbon-cut ultra-fine, practically melts on your tongue, nothing like a snow cone. Syrups are 100% cane sugar and real fruit purees. Toppings include homemade mochi, sweetened condensed milk (snocap), and li hing mui powder. One reviewer said: "Some of the best in the US. We got ours topped with snocap, ice cream inside, and mochi. It was the perfect snack for after a day at Kalahari and the 106 degree weather." That review basically wrote itself.

What to get: Ice cream in the base, snocap on top. Hawaiian Rainbow or li hing mui for flavor. Go on a weekday if you can — weekends have a line.

B-Lux Milkshakes (On-Resort, Skip the Food, Order the Shake)

📍 3001 Kalahari Blvd, inside Kalahari, next to the arcade 🕗 Sun–Thu 11 AM – 10 PM | Fri–Sat 11 AM – 11 PM

Full transparency: B-Lux is a mixed bag as a full restaurant. But the milkshakes? They go hard.

Flavors include Banana Pudding, Birthday Cake, The Mojo Jojo, and the absolute power move .. the B-Lux Donut Shake, made with an actual Round Rock Donut blended in. These are massive, loaded, completely unhinged in the best way. One group came back four times during their stay specifically for the boozy milkshakes. Another went back a second night just for the banana pudding shake. You get it.

What to get: Banana Pudding or the Donut Shake. The Birthday Cake shake if you're with kids who want the most dramatic-looking dessert possible.

Sortino's Cannoli Cart (Midnight Sweet Fix, No Car Required)

You're already at dinner. You finish your carbonara. Someone at the table goes "should we get dessert?" and you're about to say no because you're tired and full. Don't. The cannoli cart is right there. Get the cannoli. Get the gelato. It takes four minutes and it's a good way to end the night.

⚾ Game Day at Dell Diamond: The Eating Strategy

Going to a Round Rock Express game? The Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers plays at Dell Diamond, which sits right across from Kalahari. Here's how to eat well on game day:

Day game: Eggman opens at 7 AM. Get sandwiches first, walk into the ballpark full, spend your money on something more interesting than a stadium hot dog.

Night game: Tony C's beer garden is steps from Dell Diamond. Pizza and a pitcher before the game, then head in for first pitch. You'll eat better and spend less than going straight to the concession stand.

After the game: Ululani's is right on Palm Valley Blvd. Open until 8 PM on weekdays, later on weekends. Cold shave ice after a summer baseball game is an underrated experience.
